April 2007, PC Welt: Quotes and excerpts from
the review:
"Tunebite records DRM-protected audio (and for awhile
now even video) files while they are playing. The resulting recordings are free
from copy-protection and can be used without limitation.
System drivers
enable the playback and simultaneous recording at up to 4x speed. In our tests,
the recording process worked without a hitch and without detectable degradation
in audio quality.
With videos, however, CPU power quickly became a
limiting factor. The software publisher recommends a minimum processor speed of
2 GHz for the conversion of videos. Our installation on a slightly slower system
showed this recommendation to be prudent. Tunebite will only record in the MPEG4
format when the 3ivx codec is installed. The recording process will not function
with the DivX codec.
For the conversion to MP3 format, an external
encoder (LAME) is required. This is not delivered with the product. Tunebite
populated the ID3 tags, lyrics and album cover artwork for our files even when
this information was not present in the DRM-protected originals. Test version on
CD. Bottom Line: Problem-free operation. A fast CPU is recommended.”
