2007 August, Tagrunner, extracts and quotations out of the
article:
"Tagrunner is basically an ID3 tag modification program. An ID3
tag is the information stored with an MP3 audio file. Usually ID3 tags are used
to save information such as title, artist, album, track number, album art as
well as other information about the file. Tagrunner is meant to search the
internet and find more information for your MP3 files, and then add them to the
ID3 tags. Tagrunner can also be used to manually edit single or groups of MP3
files.
Using Tagrunner is fairly easy, you simply add the files or
folders you wish to edit Tagrunner will show the MP3 files it found. You can
then select if you want Tagrunner to run an internet search for information, if
you do it will take slightly longer but your MP3 will also have much more
information saved about itself. After adding all the files, click "Next" to
begin actually editing the ID3 tags. If you selected Internet Search much of the
information should be already filled in, but if there is anything missing you
can simply add the correct information to the correct field. Once you have all
the information filled in to your liking, simply click "Save" and Tagrunner will
save the file with the newly updated ID3 tags.
One of the best featured of Tagrunner is the online search
feature. By default there are 6 sources for general information about songs, as
well as 6 sources for song lyrics. If the sources provided by Tagrunner don't
find the information you want, or you know a better source you can simply add
the information yourself later on. Tagrunner can also be configured to compare
results from multiple resources, this way Tagrunner can guarantee more correct
information will be used. Tagrunner does not have to search for all available
information about each song, you can set Tagrunner to search many different
ways. It can be set to not search at all, search for just Lyrics, search for
just cover art, search for general information, or any combination. Tagrunner
can also be set to different levels of searching, they are "Quick" "Balanced"
and "Exhaustive". Quick is, of course, the fastest method but will also yield
the least results, Balanced is slightly slower but will have improved results,
and Exhaustive is the slowest with the best results.
Overall Tagrunner is a great program if you rip, and download
MP3 files commonly. Tagrunner is the fastest way to get all the information
about your songs. The only draw back to Tagrunner is the cost, currently
Tagrunner is $24.00 which is quite pricey for a tag converter, but if you
commonly use this sort of program Tagrunner is the program for you."
