Debbie Harry (Blondie): July 1, 1945

The singer Debbie Harry, who is in the punk band Blondie, was born in Miami, Florida. She was adopted by Richard and Catherine Harry who gave her the name Deborah Ann.

After dropping out from college and two jobs, Harry became a member of the band Stilettos. When she met Chris Stein, who also joined the Stilettos, they fell in love with each other and decided to form an own band, Blondie. Stein and Harry became famous after the release of their third album “Parallel Lines”. One of their best single hits is “Heart of Glass”.

In 1982, they decided to put an end to their band because of Stein’s illness. Their affection against each other also ended although Harry looked after him.

Debbie Harry started her own music career, but in 1999, Blondie restarted releasing new albums.

Ringo Starr (The Beatles): July 7, 1940

The real name of the well-known Beatles drummer is Richard Starkey and he was born in Liverpool, England. Starr had problems with his health and was sent to a sanatorium, because he had tuberculosis. There he was offered to play in a band with other young patients for a change. That is how Starr became a drummer.

When he returned from the sanatorium, it did not make sense for him to go to school because he had missed too much there. After some jobs, he joined a skiffle band (a skiffle band uses things that are not made for making music, for example buckets). Then he joined the band “Rory Storm and the Hurricanes”, and on tour, he encountered the Beatles.

Since 1962, he played in the Beatles band and they released the album “Please Please Me” one year later. And that was the beginning of the obsession with the Beatles.

Unfortunately, conflicts between the band members emerged, and in 1970, the band broke up. Similarly to Debbie Harry, Starr started his own career then.

However, he became really successful in 1996 with the album “Odelay” which contained the singles “Devil’s Haircut” and “Where It’s At”. For the latter single and the album, he was honoured with one Grammy Award respectively.

Besides, one of the most important singles by Beck is “Loser” which was popular in the 1990’s.

What makes his music so special is the fact that he mixes up various genres like hip-hop, alternative rock, soul and country among others.
