Audials tips: How to record from the radio and sort your videos
Audials Newsletter March 2022
In our last newsletter, you could find out how to create playlists from recorded music in Audials and how to record a video streaming service (using Amazon Prime Video as an example). This time we show you how to sort your videos by genre.
We also give you a tip on audio recording. Audials One of the current as well as the older generations can not only record music streaming from Spotify, Amazon Music etc., but also from more than 100,000 radio stations.
How-to: Order your videos
Have an overview of and organize all videos in the Entertainment view
Audials One and Audials Movie of the 2022 generation offer you an overview of all your videos. Recordings from certain streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Video, Disney Plus) are automatically tagged and sorted. But there is also the possibility to change the film tags manually:
1. Start the Audials software and switch to the Entertainment menu item.
You see on the left that the Video category is divided into Movies, TV series etc. In the middle part of Audials, you should see your videos as tiles.
2. To retag a video, click its tile so that it is shown in the lower right corner of Audials with a pencil icon. After clicking this icon, you will be able to change the tags. Your changes will be marked with a colour.
3. Click the pencil icon again to save your changes. Audials will sort the video into the genre that you have entered.
Alternatively, you can drag & drop the video into the required genre.
Retagging all videos of a certain genre
If, for example, all videos in TV series actually are movies, click the genre TV series on the left so that it is shown in the lower right corner of Audials with a pencil icon. After clicking this icon, enter the genre Movies. Click the pencil icon again to save your changes. Audials will sort all videos into the desired genre.
Searching for movie tags
The tags are not added automatically to recordings from certain streaming services. But Audials has a tag search feature so that you can add all information of a film or a series like actors, year, cover picture etc.
1. Open the context menu of the video.
2. Choose Search movie tags.
3. A window will open where you can enter the title of the film and start the search.
4. Choose those film tags that are most suitable.
How-to: Find and record radio stations
In the Radio view, you can listen to and record your favorite radio stations and record music from the radio by genre, country or artists. Audials cuts the songs automatically and saves them as separate audio files.
How to find suitable radio stations
You have several options how to find radio stations:
- Enter the station name in the search bar. Or enter an artist, Audials then will show stations named after the artist as well as stations that are currently playing the music of this artist.
- Go to the Genres column and select a genre.
- In addition, you can select the country that interests you in the Countries column.
How to record a station
1. In the navigation, go to Radio.
Optional: Set the output format to Universal (MP3/MP4).
2. Navigate to the station you would like to record as described above.
3. To record the station, check the recordability symbol:
If a diamond icon appears above the station name, then this station only plays full songs.
Or three bars may appear showing the song detection rate. If all bars are white, the song detection rate will be very good. If all three bars are grey, it will be not possible to record the songs with automatic cutting. In this case you have to select Record show.
To find the recording button, just put the cursor over the station, and then click the round recording symbol.
Two icons can then appear on the radio station tile:
The yellow icon means that recording starts as soon as the next complete song starts. If the yellow icon remains: The station's recording capability is too weak to be able to record with automatic cutting. Instead, select Record show.
If a red icon appears, that will mean that recording is in progress.
Results
After a few minutes, Audials finishes recording the first songs. All recorded files appear in the player (in the upper right corner of Audials).
Tip
If you like, you will be able to record from more radio stations in parallel. Just click the recording buttons of the stations you are interested in.
Audials tips: How to record videos directly in Audials and how to get music according to your taste
Newsletter April
With the Audials software, you have several options for recording music from Spotify, Tidal and other services or films and series from Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. To do this, open the Music Streaming or Video Streaming menus. Today we will show you two more recording methods:
- Music bot: Enter your favorite artists or radio stations and the bot will search for you up to 5000 songs that match your music taste.
- Search directly in Audials for suitable videos from Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney+ and record them there without a web browser.
The music bot is available in older generations of Audials One. However, the internal player is an innovation that is only available in Audials 2022.
How to record video streaming with the internal player

Interacting with the video while recording
When Audials is recording the video with the internal player, interacting is not recommended, but if it is really needed, it can be done. After the recording has started, the Netflix UI is not shown while moving the mouse. To show the UI, a click is required. A warning appears and you need to click Proceed so that interacting with the UI is enabled.
Hide the video during the recording
If you don't want to see the video while recording it with the internal player, Audials has the option to hide it. After the recording has started, in the upper right corner there is a button Hide video. If you click it, the video is hidden while Audials still records. If you want the video to be back again, click View video down right.
Record the video in full screen
If you want to record the video in full screen, click the two arrows in the top right corner after the recording has started with the internal player.

2. Open the Bot tab.

4. Click on Create collection. In the window that will be opened, you will be able to define further settings like:
- Format and versions: Should the bot search for audio files or video files?
- Sources and settings: Should the bot record from the radio or from music streaming services like Spotify, or both?
- Processing: With which speed should the bot record?
The more settings you set, the more suitable results you get.
As soon as a song is found, it appears automatically in the player (in the upper right part of Audials One), in the current playlist. The search can be stopped at any time, and a new search can be started.
Tip
You can also start the search based on one of your styles. To select the style you want, click the My Favorites drop-down menu.

Audials tips: Automatic music recording and universal screen recorder
Newsletter June 2022
The Audials newsletters give you tips on how to use the latest functions of the Audials software. This time we present two practical features that have been available for a longer period:
- Make a list of your music wishes, i. e. with music you haven't recorded yet. If you activate the wish list, Audials automatically will search for the corresponding songs on the radio or in the music streaming services you specify.
- With the universal screen recording, you record any video streaming that you play on your PC. This makes it possible to record less well-known streaming services for which there are no preconfigured settings (recording tiles) in Audials.
Our tip: Screen recording
The screen recording tool is the most reliable tool when it comes to video detection. All that it needs is a video picture on your screen, accompanied by an audio signal. This makes recording from screen a good fallback tool if a video cannot be detected or recorded by direct recording.
The Audials screen recording tool records the output of your computer screen. It is not as automated as the direct recording. For example, the controls of the video player are recorded whenever they are visible.
How-to: Recording from screen
1. Open Video Streaming in the navigation.
2. Click Other Source / Screen Recording and then click Screen recording.
3. Play the desired video in your web browser.
4. Set up the recording area, which is indicated with a blue rectangle.
5. Pause the video and rewind it to the beginning or to the point you want the recording to start from, respectively.
6. Click Record and then play the video.
Extra tip:
With the Record screen, auto detect function, Audials starts the recording automatically after the video starts and stops shortly after the video has finished playing. In manual mode, only with Wait for sound to start activated, the recording stops automatically after the video has finished. You can also stop the recording yourself anytime.
Our tip: Create and fulfill a music wish list
In addition to recording music streaming from Spotify, Amazon Music etc. or from radio stations, Audials can also automatically record music wishes. Search for songs and albums, add them to the wish list and Audials will record them for you.
Adding wishes
1. Open the Music section and click the Wish tab. If you have not done so, activate Add so that you will be able to create a wish list.
2. Type your wish into the search box. For more inspiration, switch to the subtabs Artist, Playlist & Compilations or Related Artists.
3. If you want to add a specific song or album to the list, select the desired item and click +. It will be marked with a magic wand icon and will appear on the list.
4. Repeat step 3 to add multiple wishes.
Fulfilling your wish list
1. Click Activate list... next to the wish list.
2. Choose the desired settings to fulfill your wish list.
- For example, should Audials record audio files or music videos?
- Should Audials record from radio stations as soon as the song is played or from music websites?
- How fast should the music be recorded?
3. Confirm the settings with Activate wish list.
Results
Audials will fulfill your wishes as soon as they are available in the selected sources and records them. The progress of the recording can be tracked in the wish list or the lower part of the wish view. All recorded items will appear in the player.
Extra tip: Have your music wishes fulfilled in the background
You can activate the list even if you have not finished your wish list. Audials can search for music in the background while you are still adding more wishes.

With Audials One 2023 you can not only remove annoying ads, but also add subtitles if required, perfectly synchronized and in any language. Audials either saves the subtitles as a separate layer so that they can be removed at any time, or renders them directly into the video.
Have you ever tried recording music streaming remote controling the streaming app? In addition to recording from the streaming service's app or directly from the browser's website, this is the third recording option. All you have to do is enter the URL of the album or playlist in Audials One and start recording to get all the songs on your hard drive. Depending on the streaming provider, high-speed is also possible.
Our tip: How to save subtitles
With Audials 2023 you can add subtitles to your videos, either during or after the recording. First you should enter your preferred language.
How to set the default subtitles language(s)
1. Click the gear icon in the lower left corner of Audials.
2. Select the Video Streaming Recording menu item.
3. Click +Add to set all preferred subtitles languages.
Saving subtitles during video recording
1. Open the Video Streaming menu item in Audials.
2. Click Netflix, Amazon Video or Disney+
3. In the next window, set which subtitles you want to get. There are three options:
- Search: Audials searches the web for subtitles in your default language. They are saved as a separate layer and can be removed later.
- From Netflix/Amazon/Disney: Audials adds subtitles directly from the respective streaming service. They are also saved as a separate layer and can be removed later.
- Render to video: Choose this method if you are going to play the subtitles from the streaming service. Audials will then render them into the video so that they can no longer be removed.
4. Select any other required settings, such as the recording speed, and start recording in Audials.
You can see the finished video in the top right corner of the player or in Video -> My Videos.
Adding subtitles to a finished video
1. Click the pencil icon of your video in the player of Audials and open the Subtitles tab.
2. The subtitle search engine opens. Click Search subtitles.
3. Download the desired subtitles. You will be able to remove them later if you do not need them.
4. While palying the video, click the eye icon in the lower right corner to show the subtitles.
Translating subtitles
If no subtitles are available in the language you want, download any subtitle, hover over it and click the binoculars icon. Choose your language and Audials will automatically translate the subtitles.
Our tip: How to record music streaming by remote control
Remote recording means that you copy an album or playist link from the streaming service's app into Audials to record all the songs. In addition to Amazon Music and Tidal, the remote control now also works for Deezer.
1. Start Audials, open the Music Streaming menu item and click on the desired streaming service, for example Deezer.
2. Select Remote control Deezer app in the next window.
3. Copy an album or playlist link into the search bar of Audials.
4. Click the insert icon next to the search bar. Now click Download and the songs will all appear in Audials. If you don't need some of them, they can be removed.
5. Now start recording in Audials.
Audials One will record the songs. You will find them in the upper right player of Audials or in Music -> My Music.
