Shaed - Trampoline

I've been havin' dreams
Jumpin' on a trampoline
Flippin' in the air
I never land, just float there
As I'm looking up
Suddenly the sky erupts
Flames alight the trees
Spread to fallin' leaves
Now they're right upon me

Wait if I'm on fire
How am I so deep in love?
When I dream of dying
I never feel so loved

I've been having dreams
Splashin' in a summer stream
Trip and I fall in
I wanted it to happen
My body turns to ice
Crushin' weight of paradise
Solid block of gold
Lying in the cold
I feel right at home

Wait if I'm on fire
How am I so deep in love?
When I dream of dying
I never feel so loved

Wait if I'm on fire
How am I so deep in love?
When I dream of dying
I never feel so loved

I never feel so loved

Wait if I'm on fire
How am I so deep in love?
When I dream of dying
I never feel so loved

Wait if I'm on fire
How am I so deep in love?
When I dream of dying
I never feel so loved

Interpretation of Trampoline

In the melancholic song “Trampoline” the female protagonist expresses her doubt that she is loved. She tells that she jumps on a trampoline and suddenly, everything around her burns. She notices that she does not feel loved when she dreams that she is dying. She thinks: When she feels this in her dream, it has to be real.

The trampoline and the weightlessness are a warning to be not too unconcerned. The flames spread in the dream suddenly. That is why she thinks that the person she loves can suddenly disappoint her, too. The fact that she turns into ice points to her unfeelingness and her disappointment when she will learn in the future that the affection is not mutual.

Furthermore, the protagonist becomes aware that she is lonely: She turns into a “block of gold lying in the cold”, i. e. in something static that nobody is interested in and that lies in the cold.

The meaning of the line “Crushin’ weight of paradise” is not clear. Maybe it means that love actually has to be comparable to paradise. But for our protagonist, it is a burden because she does not really know whether she is loved or not.
