How to download Amazon Prime movies with the Amazon app
Download Amazon Prime movies on PC (Windows/Mac):
Note: Downloading movies on a PC is only possible with the Prime Video app for Windows. It does not work in a web browser. On Mac, there is currently no official download option.
1. Install the Prime Video app:
- Open the Microsoft Store.
- Search for “Amazon Prime Video.”
- Click Install.
2. Launch the app and sign in.
3. Find the movie or series you want to download.
4. Click the title, then click the download icon (down arrow).
5. If available, choose the download quality (Good, Better, Best).
6. After the download is complete, you’ll find the movie under My Downloads.
Not available on Mac: There is no Prime Video app for macOS with a download feature. Streaming in the browser is the only option at the moment.
Download Amazon Prime Video movies on Android (smartphones & tablets):
1. Open the Google Play Store.
2. Search for “Amazon Prime Video” and install the app.
3. Sign in with your Amazon account.
4. Find the movie or series you want.
5. Tap the title, then tap the download icon.
6. You can choose the quality (for example Data Saver, Standard, High).
7. After downloading, you’ll find the movie under Downloads in the app’s bottom navigation.
Content can only be played within the app and is usually available offline for a limited time.
Download Amazon Prime movies on iOS (iPhone & iPad):
1. Open the App Store.
2. Search for “Amazon Prime Video” and install the app.
3. Launch the app and sign in.
4. Find the title you want.
5. Tap the movie, then tap Download.
6. If available, choose the download quality.
7. The movie will then appear under Downloads in the bottom menu.
The same applies here: movies can only be played in the app and are available offline for a limited time.
The downsides of Amazon Prime Video downloads

Once you download a video, it stays tied to the Amazon app. That means you can’t enjoy your content on other devices or with another app.

As soon as a series or movie is no longer available on Amazon, your download disappears too. This can also happen when the viewing period expires. And yes, even purchased or rented content can disappear if Amazon removes it from its catalog.
