You should already know I’m a fan of Lupe. The last time I’ve heard anything from him was “Drogas Wave” in 2018. Very deep. and worth the listen just for the historic and spiritual side. But this EP attracted me because of the production by Kaelin Ellis which always grabs my attention. And of course the lyrical genius of Lupe. Outside of that take a listen to the commentary by Virgil Abloh as well. Pretty damn good.

Since we are in this Corona lock down, I had time to go back to 2019 and bring forward some beat makers, producers that I didn't get time to touch. One guy I was enjoying for a few years is Mndsgn (Mind Design) a Philippine, Jersey living, Cali living producer. I got caught up with his style once I listened to his 2014 release Yawn Zen. Labeled under electronic, not really hip hop with his early releases. This latest release Snaxx has recovered beats from a hard drive that was supposed to be a full release from a 2018 mix tape. I compare his music discography from then to now.

Continuing with showing love to diverse producers, DJ’s, beat makers. The Laid back creative flow of Glenn Boothe aka - Knxwledge fell into my lap with his new 2020 release while trying to find a Corona Virus groove. My introduction to Knxwledge was his 2015 release HUD Dreams so this was a welcomed surprise. Thus finally getting to talk about this creative artist that caught my attention 2 years ago.

I didn’t do a review of Tek’s highly enjoyable “allow it” released in 2018. I wasn't feeling the earlier  EP release Blood, but now with the release of Dweeb. The B’more native has been moving forward with his sound so I wanted to hear what this one would sound like. He goes a different route and flavors his multi layer tracks with more vocals, trap beats and for sure his signature synthesized sound. At the same time I ran into his group NASA 8 so I had to show some love this year.

Sean and I jumps into one of my favorite southern rappers. This new release is full of features and Sean reveals the secret sauce. J. Cole produced album. Interesting review and our different perspective.

Sean and I finally get to YBN Cordae and we discuss where he ranks with the freshman of the year and the type of release he has out right now. With the amount of features he has on this new release. do we really get to hear his talent?

2 years ago, Sean introduced me formally to Big K.R.I.T  with his release "4eva is a mighty long time."  Now he drops something in this weak season of releases for us to digest and see how this release refers back to his 2010 mixtape "K.R.I.T Wuz Here".  My thoughts is, I'm judging it on what he is releasing now.  I didn't go back but Sean has his opinion.  Especially since he's a fan.

Sean introduces the new release by MAXO Kream.  The Houston story teller gets personal but for some reason still sounds familiar like a Quality Control production.  We jump on this 15 track release.

You already know we criticize Dreamville for lack of promotion and weak promotion.  But mad love to a lot of their artist and the King sitting on top J.Cole.  So this massive compilation release with so many surprises that I couldn't get to the end until I rewinded so many of these cuts that it too me a few days to take it all in.  Any way here it is.

Sean and I wanted to review the Smith children since they both came out around the same time.  First we give our take on Willow and a style that we weren't expecting to hear.  Also since she is more of a veteran than her brother.  We didn't know what we would get.  Then we drop in Jaden.  He had a few releases after his well received debut album (for the record, those other releases I was not feeling) So for 2019 we get a listen to another one of these long ass releases with long ass 4 min. average songs.

Being a fan of Freddie Gibbs, during our last review it was mentioned that he needed some serious production help as well as a few features. In jumps super producer Madlib. Following a lot of his instrumental albums I have been a fan for a while but lately he has been producing a lot of others. With this combination we looked forward to hearing this release

This wasn’t something we really were waiting for after the mixed reviews of NAGA last year. But this really interesting throwback production was something that came out of no where. Lets see what Sean’s opinion is.

Sean introduces the two Logic release for the year a soundtrack and the 6 studio release. a Hip hop album “Confessions of a dangerous mind”. And the Soundtrack to a novel he released called “Supermarket. we touch on both releases and we have our preference.

Almost fresh off our review of his last years critically acclaimed release Flower boy. We get this new change and feel from Tyler after he has done some commercial high viz projects. We review the new 12 track release Igor and debate its merits so to speak

We have been feeling ScHoolboy for a minute. Me not so major but his appearance has always been worth while. So with his 2019 release was another one of the artist we looked forward to hearing. With a 5 songs with features on a 14 track release. We wanted to lay back and check this one out.

I’ve been a fan of James Blake for years. With his odd sound but soothing voice that went with so much but not quite with anything. He made you listen for different reasons and some how you would hear him sprinkled in with some hip hop folks. His dark brooding sound that was heard for years could have been a precursor to the young depressed sound you some times hear today. But this new release has a tone that’s unfamiliar but quite refreshing. This is the evolution of James Blake with a touch of his hip hop buddies help.

This young crooner wrote his song American Teen at 17 and now as he’s going on 21 he has another solid full length release Free spirit. He got a sweet intro by Apple by being featured on their memoji commercial with his single “talk”. We sit down to listen to his 17 track new release. Still listening to R&B right now. Go figure.

We get a second chance to listen to a new feature release for Anderson Paak. It was surprising that he would come out with another release so quickly but the sound and feel of this release is something Sean and I wanted to discuss.

Our next R&B release is a spiritual amazing sequel to a seat at the table that transcend lyrics and takes you into another level of music. Sean and I kept silent about our review until we sat down to review it together. This is our thoughts.

We flip into our R&B releases that we were happy to break from the the rap scene for a session or two.  We start with a new comer and social media darling Doja Cat.  Sadly her image grabbed our attention along with her  viral song "Mooo!"  So we started almost blindly with some preconceived thoughts on what this gorgeous artist would sound like and present

DaBaby aka Baby Jesus from North Carolina fell in my lap within the new releases that was coming out lately. Sean agreed to take a listen so we took the time give someone from up I85 from Atlanta. This rapid fire artist gets some love.

Sooooo, Sean and I enjoyed the Future and Juicewrld collaboration last year and really didn’t know what Juicewrld would actually do for his next solo since the collab was such a success. Well this Death race thing came out and Sean laughed at me for about 10 min. We have our opinion and this is what we got.

So finally!! The offset solo release has arrived. To much fanfare and anticipation. Somebody is really excited and somebody is like…. Any who 1/3 features, very different feel and approach by the 3rd release by the 3rd member of the Migos trio.

We jump into Gunna’s 2nd major release on his own and actually coming out in competition with the OFFSET release the same day. We’ve seen him in so many other artist releases that we wondered how his solo would come off. With his success with Lil Baby, we had some skeptical views coming in.

We start the week out with a quick what’s on your mind and discuss the Grammy nominations and wins. We discuss our feelings about the industry as well as what we hope is a taking over of the music industry from Hip Hop to people of color. Then we get into our opinion on the GREAT J.Cole and the mission he is on. Quite an interesting discussion.

This week we jump into one of the old heads of the South rap Game Future. He’s hitting us at the beginning of the year after signing a 50 Mil contract with Epic, so you know we are going to get plenty more for the year. We review this 20 cut release.

So this interesting Eminem signed artist shows up and comes across as a very well seasoned story teller. We discuss his similarities to some well know artist as well as creating a very good West side sound and feel. And you know I’m loving the production.

I’m back to finish up my two part review of Dabrye/Tadd Mullinix. His latest sparked me to go back and listen to his past work then reintroduce you to his current release. As part of my producer feature on CarrWaxx. We Focus on the the latest and greatest (a matter of taste of course) These producers are just unique and away from the mainstream that one would hear on streaming services. Here is Three/Three

I ran into one of my favorite producers from the early 2000's and found that he released a current LP that was in line with his previous releases.  Tadd Mullinix or Dabrye at that time was a talented producer from Michigan that did a lot of production with electronics and hip hop.  To pay homage to his career and to highlight his new release.  I wanted to review his previous releases.  Here's part 1

We finally get the full release of Anderson Paak Oxnard. The Cali crooner and creative artist that has been featured almost every where. This Dr. Dre produced release is something Sean and I couldn’t wait to dive into.

We jump into this Alabama breed, Chicago raised artist who is a combination Poet/Rapper and check out his new release: Pieces of a man.  An interesting release during this Hip Hop era.  But with the influence of Chance the rapper, Vic Mensa, I waited to see what this artist would bring after his critically acclaimed "The Water" release.

Our second half review falls on a producer.  Metro Boomin is synonymous with the Atlanta sound.  Seems to be always on the Quality Control hits and then some.  We speak to the features and his creative way he decided to approach this solo album with a massive cast of QC artist.

As a continuation of the Quality control releases of the year. We take a listen to the Third member of The Migos, TakeOff. With no features listed on this release. We were very skeptical with what we were going to hear. Especially with the amount of Swag Offset and Quavo always bring to the team.

This week we continue with our second half of our trap music review from Quavo to the new collaboration with the OG Future with his new collaboration release with the Chi town rapper Juice WRLD. What a different perspective we share with this release by Future. We also relive his previous releases that got us here.

This week we jump into the trap music game with Quavo from the amigos and the OG Future with his new collaboration release with the Chi town rapper Juice WRLD. We start off with your boy Quavo which we kinda knew was on his way based on the Quality Control mega releases for this year. we get into Quavo’s touch into the big charts.

Our second review of Collaboration albums is the New York rappers Dave East and Styles P. A veteran and a new comer gets together to spit the New york life, raw and luxurious. We go through the production, lyrical quality and what we thought was the concept of these collaborations.

Sean and I go into our collab music review and we start off with our returning Champ Lil Baby with a slimey collab with Gunna.  With Quality Control shooting out sooooo much this year we made a stop to check out what these young boyz were putting out together

We finish the two part review with realizing that What LiL Wayne has done for the music industry is amazing. We discuss his influence, his troubles and this brand new release which we break down in our own way. Is this guy actually the Goat?

These two artist presented a totally different presentation of what they wanted to release. Wayne letting people know I still got it and Lupe with I know I fucked up so let me get back to delivering the art he knew he could put out and not copy the mainstream rap industry. Sean and I exam these two artist two releases with our owe bias and critique. We start with Lupe

The 2nd part of our Eminem review gets into his battle with a few people that is burning up the internet (white on white crime) The Machine Gun Kelly battle that started waaaay back in 2014 or 2012 about something he said about his daughter. We continue with Em’s legacy and what is possibly his next move. Theeen we talk about what great kinda looks like in this era and what this year looks like with competitive releases. We take the time to pay respect to Mac Miller with his untimely death. A little about his rap career, depression and substance abuse. RIP

This week we get a little Neo-soul and a little west coast rap harmonizing music that Sean and I get into this week.  A break from the named performers as well as familiar sounds out today.  A really good mixture and somewhat contrasting but pretty good releases for this year.  Strictly west coast this week.  We test each others perspective on these two artist.

We head out west and to Texas to review two new releases that go about their thing with contrasting styles. YG with the hard core west coast street life with a different swag to it. Then Travis Scott the producer extrondinaire giving us some reminiance of early Kanye productions. We dive in to get a feel of the AstroWorld and Stay dangerous releases and what both artist bring to the hip hop world.

Sean and I get into the B side of the Scorpion double CD and jump into the R&B side. Slowly moving from the hard rap side of A. Drake slows it down in a true to form style that made him an international starwe discuss this side and close out with his status for the year as best album or not

We finally sit down and review this mega 25 track release by Drake.  With anyone else this would be a long drawn out bore, but when it comes to Drake and his super stardom and versatile skills.  We had to wait and see what he would put together.  Here's our take

Sean and I discuss the significant and social impact the Carters release has done at this time.  from the differences in Beyonce, the production quality as well as the flow and presentation this major power couple has shown the world with their collaborative release.  The Carters!! Everything Is Love is a collaborative studio album by American singer Beyoncé and rapper Jay-Z, credited jointly as the Carters.

We close this week out with two very well developed releases by Jay Rock (Redemption) and ASAP Rocky (Testing).  So unique in their way that we left them for last so we would be able to spend the time to highlight and showcase their talent.  Very good listen.

We jump into the 3rd installment of the Kanye production month with the release of "Kids see Ghost".  The collaboration with Kanye and Kid Cudi on their 7 track release.  Fans of Kid Cudi we absolutely have our opinion of what we think of the overall production.

As this is Kanye's month (June).  We start with his solo release Ye!  Even tho the album covers says,"I hate being bi-polar - its awesome".  Somebody is still a fan and somebody is done with his sh*t!!  But we both know that he is still one of the best producers out now.  we break it down!!

We delve back into trap music and review LIL Baby's Harder than ever 17 track release.  Since we have heard so much coming from the trap music community as well as the folks from Quality Control. Sean throws this young rapper on the table to review and get a good listen too.  A freshman for 2018, so we wonder if he will be part of the XXL freshman class of 2018.

We return to reviewing R5 after being disappointed by the Pryhme release with Premier.  We open up this new release "Book of Ryan" and he takes us to some where we did not think he could.  We listened to so many artist spill their soul into their music but did not think it would be Royce adding to the quality of music being released. Because of the hype and interpretation of Donald Glover's alter ego Childish Gambino.  We talk briefly about the newly released video "This is America".  One thing I didn't catch was the lyrics because it seemed like a lot of repetitive chorus.  But check out the lyrics here for "This is America" watch the video and follow along.

The teen group Chloe X Halle from Grown-ish has their new release, "The kids are alright." We discuss the easy going production and the great harmonization between the young ladies.  Its surprising that these young ladies created a very enjoyable album that we didn't expect.

We end our interview with Tremel Copeland with reminiscing of older equipment and a few techniques of recording and producing.  A great conversation of old perspective and new with a common love of creating.

On this new release "Dirty Computer" by Janelle Monae, she creates a unique blend of soul and funk.  The inspiration comes from a very interesting artist that you can hear the influence throughout this release.  The late great "Prince".  With this being her 3rd album", We discuss if she accomplished that feat or was it just a bad copy of Prince's previous music.

For my special production/DJ series.  I sit down with the young Producer Tremel Copeland AKA Zuri of Zuri production.  I had to have a sit down with Tremel because of the many beats and production interludes we play during a lot of our podcast.  And I wanted to pick his brain and show recognition and gratitude for his talent  This is Part I

We were so surprised with the new release of the new J. Cole release K.O.D.  First that it came out with no pre-release fanfare,  And with this different style he choose on this release, we hold our breath and break these tracks down to see if this is another J Cole masterpiece. KOD is the fifth studio album by American rapper J. Cole. It was released on April 20, 2018 through Dreamville Records, Roc Nation and Interscope Records.

Sean and I sit down to review one of BK's most oddest group.  The Flatbush Zombies.not every hearing from this group before.  I was pleasantly surprise to hear their 19 track release with a few features that went very well with this release

Sean and I sit down and review the legendary DJ premier and Royce da 59 with their 2nd release from their collaboration PRhyme. To me its about the production and giving props to Royce da 59 for putting out a stable release.

Today we are pleasantly surprised by this new release by the Rapper Phonte.  I know him from his collaboration with the Dutch producer Nicolay and their group called the Foreign Exchange.  Sean knows him from his time with the rap group called "Little Brother".  We check out his new release "No news is good news"

Part two of our music review is our Canadian addition, Tory Lanez.  Which as a new listener to his complete album I had a different outlook about this guy.  The R&B/ rap artist we add our view and perspective of a release that is totally reminicent of his fellowcanadian counterparts.  This is a something Tory should be proud of.

This week we drop in on two artist we felt was worthy of being highlighted with their new releases.  One of the release I personally was looking forward to is the XXXtentacion new release. With our previous review of his "Debut release 17" we didn't know what we were going to get especially after the SYRE release by Jaden Smith. And by the way, he's number 1 on the billboard chart.

We hit two cities today with the new releases by Yo Gotti and The Hustle Gang.  Yeah Gotta been out for a minute but the Hustle Gang is on some other shit.  Memphis and the A gets the review this week and I fell asleep on one of them.

Sean and I gives one of the NBA's finest a listen and we review an unexpected collaboration that surprised us both.  Damian Lillard the Portland Trailblazers starting guard puts together a very good selection that we weren't expected to hear.   On top of that, Young Thug gets some unexpected love from some critical reviewers from the past.  O yeah and Future is on the collab as well

Sean and I review one of the best rap groups in Hip Hop history.  The Wu-Tang-Clan.  This new release snuck up on me because I didn't hear the buzz but Sean wanted to give the Wu their own time for a review.  We talk about the Wu, older groups and artist that haven't been out recently.

Part 2 of our music podcast, Sean and I go in on  Female rapper Rapsody.  We are amazed by the talent she shows and how the production allowed her to highlight her skills and tell the stories you don't normally hear from many rappers out now and especially a female hip hop artist.

4:44 is the fourteenth studio album and thirteenth solo album by American rapper Jay-Z. It was released on June 30, 2017 through Roc Nation. The album is produced by No I.D. with additional production from Jay-Z, as well as James Blake and Dominic Maker on the album's physical bonus tracks. The album features guest appearances from Frank Ocean, Damian Marley, Beyoncé and Jay-Z's mother, Gloria Carter. 4:44 was released as an exclusive to Sprint and Tidal customers, and is the first in a planned series of music exclusives from the Sprint-Tidal partnership.

This podcast we discuss the hot topic of Chrisette Michele and her controversial singing at Trumps inauguration.  Wellactually a one of the functions of the day of inauguration.  As twisted as it sounds, our thoughts are she could have spun the situation in her favor if she didn't sing but she didn't,  and even now after she did sing she could have done some things to help her appeal.  We debate the issue as well as bring humor to a sad situation.
