The opposite of the alt-rock show, this week explored funk, jazz, electronic, and hip-hop, including New Deal, Brand New Heavies, DJ Punk Roc, Brecker Brother's Skunk Funk, Milo, Basement Jaxx and Herbie Hancock - continued from Show #146

Decided to put away the hip-hop and jazz for this show (even the oldies) and focus on alternative, indie and modern rock favorites from the last 15 or so years, including lots of new material. Highlights include the New Pornographers, VHS or Beta, Porcupine Tree, Thrice, The Divorce and Les Savy Fav.

The constant problems I have had throughout the past few months pushed me install some new hardware and software. This was an experiment of sorts with a brand new setup but I thought it came out great. I just realized I have now archived over 50 shows!

Other than some vocal mic problems, I thought this was a pretty good show. A nice collection of music you probably haven't heard before. Featuring some new music by LCD Soundsystem and old 90s favorites.

The first of a few shows produced with numerous technical difficulties. Frankly I got bored halfway into the show and let my wife Meagan take over. Enjoy her mix of hits from the 80s, 90s and today!

Not much to say here. Summer 07 has been incredibly busy and this was the only show I produced in July. The standard mix of genres - from rock and hip-hop to electronica and jazz.

The flip-side of the jazz/funk show - some harder-core rock, pop and electric material, plus even more new stuff from Bears, QOTS, instrumental Beasties, Arcade Fire, Clutch and DJ Shadow.

It started with YES from 90215... I don't remember where it ended. The previous two shows sucked so I am not uploading them.

While pondering selections for my weekly show, Pink Floyd popped into my head (Have a Cigar...) and I decided to play many of my childhood favorites - rock, jazz and even some "ELONJ" (ELO & Olivia Newton-John). Other highlights: Men at Work, Bowie, Lennon, Gensis, Yes, Styx and Faith No More.

Back in the saddle again... I had a few weeks away from the show and one full hour without a working mic. This week features lots of new music including artists like Self (the unreleased Ornament & Crime album), Pretty Girls Make Graves, Alpacas Orgling as well as an introduction to the brilliant Mr. Joe Frank from the series "Somewhere Out there."

I am desperately trying to get my roots firmly back in the eclectic world, as clearly evidenced by this broadcast. I did manage to bring lots of new material from Uffie, Boredoms, Bass Line Dada and Mastodon, and also spin some classics by Yes, Midnight Oil and the Clash, plus a few mashups worth noting.

It would be one thing if I blew off dinner with my wife (on valentine's day) for the world's greatest music show ever but frankly I wasn't in the best mood to begin with and it shows. While I limped along, I did manage to play music from TVOR, Silversun Pickups, Ivan Neville, Men at Work, Ozric Tentacles and Soul Coughing.

This is a tribute show to my favorite jazz musician - composer and saxophonist Michael Brecker - who lost his battle to Lukemia on January 13th. I play a handful of his solo works that I enjoy most, along with the usual cacophony of eclectic rock and alt-pop. The show starts with a new single from Wired All Wrong, the new band by Self front-man Matt Mahaffey.

There are a few new artists that I have not yet tired of playing like TVOR and Silversun Pickups. Otherwise this week brings together artists from the 70s through the 90s like Elvis Costello, Porno for Pyros, Genesis (from Duke), The Cardigans, a few Pulp Fiction clips and Gil Scott-Heron, who has inspired the title of this week's Podcast.

Another chance to review recent additions to the JT Collection and favorites from 2007, in a valiant attempt to hit the eclectic stride we hope for at Head Case Radio. Featured artists this show include Mermen, Silversun Pickups, Jurassic 5, Whitest Boy Alive, Cut Chemist, TV on the Radio (a new favorite), some kick-ass "smart" jazz plus Demitri Martin revisited and a JB tribute mix.

A fairly rough start for the first show of 2007 but I managed to keep it together. Over the holidays I received TONS of new albums - gifts from friends plus a splurge or two in the used bins. I believe we heard some Mylo, more Sufjan Stevens, Cassius, Jose Gonzalez, new Don Caballero, Owusu & Hannibal and Aloe Blacc (thanks KCRW) plus some tribute tracks to celebrate the life and music of James Brown (r.i.p. 12/25/2006)

A lazy low-key end to 2006. With family in town (and watching the magic-making process known as streaming Internet radio over the shoulder of your truly) I kept the crazy to a minimum and stuck to holiday, rock and jazz classics. Actually many of the songs my mom requested and are interspersed throughout the two-hour program... Enjoy and Happy New Year!

This was a badly needed and much appreciated third visit to the Jazz side of my collection. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did. I tend to favor "unique" jazz and all styles of jazz fusion, but that does not mean that I won't throw in some classic Coltrane, Sunny Rollins or Dexter Gordon when the mood strikes (no coincidence that they are all tenor sax players). Other notables include Jaco Pastorius (whom my dog is named after), new Avishai Cohen, old Herbie Hancock, MMW by request plus Take 6 and new-ish Bobby McFerrin.

This show was a mess... and it sat on my desktop for two weeks before I decided to post it. But I don't really see the point in not sharing it or even trying to edit it. At this point, I don't even remember what I played!

Finally, a show with some new music! This week I actually had time to review and prepare some new tracks for lovers of eclectic music everywhere, including Sufjan Stevens, Ash, Ryan Adams, Earl Greyhound, Viktor Vaughn, Easy Star's Radiodread and Jason Falkner demos.

The only thing new during this show was Money from Easy Star's Dub Side of the Moon, an album worth checking out. Otherwise, some new tracks from old artists like Gomez, MF Doom, Don Ellis, Kid Loco, Chick Corea/Return to Forever and The Beta Band

A lack of planning and bad traffic results in a replay of Innersanctum regulars and favorites such as Morphine, Squarepusher, Jeff Buckley, The Bad Plus, Tracy Bonham and The Conchords
