Back to Basics: The building blocks of BEing-“G” is for GRATITUDE.The dictionary says that gratitude is the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. But simply and far more practically put, gratitude is acknowledging the beauty of what we have choosing to focus with intention on our blessings.Having an attitude of gratitude paves our path for abundance. The MORE that we express gratitude, the more we receive to be thankful for. Don’t believe it? Give it a try! I challenge you to intentionally abandon negativity and pessimism, and just focus on what you have and not what you have a desire for and watch how your experience changes!

Back to Basics: The building blocks of BEing-“F” is for FRIENDSHIP.The dictionary says that a friend is someone with whom you share a close bond, characterized by mutual affection, trust, and support. Friends often provide companionship, understanding, and empathy, helping each other through both good and challenging times. They can share interests, experiences, and laughter, creating lasting memories together. Ultimately, a friend is someone who is there for you and values your relationship.The BIBLE says in Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity." This highlights the loyalty and support of true friends.True friends are a blessings but how many have TRUE friends? Let’s talk about!

Back to Basics: The building blocks of BEing-“E” is for EVALUATION.The dictionary says that to evaluate is to determine or fix the value of : to determine the significance worth or condition of, usually by careful, appraisal, and study. With that, is there any question why evaluation is so important? In order to truly gauge where we are, and how to move forward toward the BEST versions of ourselves, we have to evaluate our past in correlation to our future. Are we repeating patterns and treading pathways that we know are not leading to positive, productive outcomes? Honest evaluation of ourselves and our plans are vitally important to take us from where we’ve been to where we must go!

Back to Basics: The building blocks of BEing-“D” is for DARING. Understanding that being daring is a vitally important component to reaching new heights in our personal growth and development! So often fear paralyzes us and keeps us from DARING greatly! It is time to recognize that everything that we need, want and even desire is on the the other side of fear and we have to DARE to go get it!!

Back to Basics: The building blocks of BEing-“C” is for COMPASSION. Understanding that compassion is a pivotal point of connection for meaningful interaction and understanding. It’s important that we revisit this fundamental building block! Compassion makes us better humans and we equally benefit from extending it!

Back to Basics: The Building Blocks of BEing! “B” is for betrayal. Understanding that betrayal is an occurrence that date backs to the beginning of time! Betrayal is the act of being disloyal or treacherous to someone, violating their trust or confidence. It can involve revealing secrets, breaking promises, or acting against someone's interests, leading to feelings of hurt and disappointment.Is there anyone who has NEVER been betrayed? Is there anyone who has NEVER, in some form or fashion, betrayed another? I would caution you to think and be honest with YOURSELF before answering… and then, take a listen!

Building Blocks of BEing is a back to basic series going through the ABC’s of becoming. There are so many fundamental pieces of our lives that help to create or cultivate our experiences. As we continue to live, let us continue to grow and learn how to BE the best possible version of ourselves! “A is for Attitude” simply reminds us how much our attitudes play a part in our overall outlook and outcomes! An “Attitude of Gratitude” focused on acknowledging the GOOD in our lives fosters a deeper sense of happiness and contentment, regardless of the temporary circumstances IF we choose to make the adjustments.

Consider it your spiritual filling station to fuel up before the start of a new week! This episode was supposed to launch Sunday, November 3rd but disobedience will always cause delay! I didn’t do what I was instructed and here it is Wednesday …Well, transparency is the key to transformation! There’s no ability to be your NEW self if you refuse to SEE your true self! Understanding I don’t share my perspective on this podcast because I’m perfect. I share because I’m in process and I know that some of you are too let’s enjoy the journey together.

Have you ever been challenged by a circumstance that made you feel that you were not able to overcome? Have you ever felt that you did not have what was needed to complete a task that was inevitable? Trust me you are not alone! We all have been faced with the barriers that require US to adjust!

How many times have we experienced some thing that we thought would never end but it did. How many times have we looked at situations and thought that all that could happen had happened but then something changed? This episode is just a relevant reminder that temporary is temporary, we all will go through what we have to go through to experience the outcomes we were created to have!

So many times we limit our experiences and the joy that they could bring by expecting a particular outcome. As we continue in the days ahead, this episode encourages us to yes have expectation, but also be open to the beauty of an experience that you don’t expect. Every day and in every way we have the potential to be blown away! Let’s normalize not being so married to our expectations that we missed the unexpected blessings that are all around!

This episode is a simple reminder that it IS important to be who you’re supposed to be, all of the time! Consistency is the way we’re able to be a blessing to ourselves and others. If we allow inconsistency to be our legacy, we will not complete the race as intended. But if we are partnered correctly on the journey, we can run together and make it to where we’re all supposed to be, but it starts with consistency.

In this episode, we find the encouragement to listen to the GPS of your soul. We are gently reminded to focus on what IS important and to be intentional about moving in the direction of your destiny!

Sometimes WE are cultivating the weeds that get in the way! We plant poisonous seeds and water them with our fears, irresponsibility and our insecurities!! We have to check our own minds and motives, constantly! Our own unhappiness, lack of emotional intelligence and unhealed wounds OFTEN causes us to lose far more than we gain. We all have received some good (and some not so good) advice from our parents. As I move into my 50th year of life, I reflect upon many of the things that my mother has said to me over the years. This episode are seven of the most impactful things that I readily recall when I think about things that mom has said to me over the years. some of the things I did not embrace as a child who thought she knew it all, and other things were taken to heart right away, but everything I realized, was said to me out of love, and an intention to protect.

It is a known fact that laughter, decreases stress hormones, and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies thus improving your resistance to disease! Laughter triggers, the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel good chemical endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain! No wonder the Bible says that laughter is like medicine!!

Continuing our conversation on Belonging: Resurrecting the Broken Spirited

We ALL desire to belong. We were CREATED with that need. Belonging is the feeling of security and support when there is a sense of acceptance, inclusion, and identity for a member of a certain group. It is when an individual can bring their authentic self to every experience they are a part of. This episode is a reminder to focus MORE on the things that make us alike, rather than highlighting the things that sever and separate us.

As we continue to grow, we must be conscious of the difference between being nice and being kind. A compassionate and forgiving heart is kind, and cautious and calculating heart is nice.

The weekend came and flooded me with emotion: those feelings I enjoyed and some that I wish I never had to feel! The Tuck In At 10 found me asleep, resting my weary soul. But I’m here this morning with our message for the week. “Make it Meaningful”

In this “Year of Me: 2023” we are taking the lessons, learned from last year, and dedicating intentional focus to creating solutions for the problems that we know will come! This episode is a reminder to intentionally choose to be disarming as opposed to engaging the conflict!

Remember when you dreamt of amazing things? Well…. Let’s refocus and make these dreams come true!

What keeps us from having was already ours? It’s a great question with an answer that just might surprise you!

First episode of 2023!! The ending of one year, and the beginning of another is often times the most reflective for many individuals. I usually take a look back over the year, and truthfully determine the lessons that I was given the opportunity to learn. Sometimes we can feel very negatively about the experiences that brought us the lesson so I am choosing not to focus on that, but rather extracting from the lesson, the principal that I need to apply for greater success in 2023. . If God allows, I will be turning 50 this year on July 20. We are 200 days away from the big celebration as a countdown. I am going to be focused on me this year. I encourage all of us to take a break and redirect our focus on the care that we all need for ourselves. By focusing on ME in 2023, I foresee becoming more fruitful, and a greater blessing to myself and others.

There are messages all around and simply put it’s OUR time to SHINE!!!

Well Boys and Girls we have come to another close of the year and as we end our season, and end our year we end with gratitude and renewed focus! As always, we take this last month of the year to focus on gratitude and the many things we have experienced through the year that have given us reasons to be thankful and opportunities to be hopeful! The topic of my focus and gratitude this week is again, PURPOSE!! When we are doing what the world needs, doing what we love, doing what we’re good at and doing what people will pay us to do we are most aligned with our purpose. Happier New Year Boys and Girls!! Here we are on the very first page of a NEW 365 page book! How exciting to embark on a new journey with you in 2022! While we may not always see an instant manifestation of what we hope will bloom and flourish, we should recognize the value in relevant connection and being part of something bigger! As people who have lived our lives to this point, we are all the product of seeds having been planted and coming to be in the persons you and I show up as in this world. Message Moment Monday! This is our weekly introduction to our concept of the week! This weeks building block TRULY builds on the last. Some of the concepts of self-love are very much intertwined with truth and transparency; so there will be some reference to some of those concepts from last week. Until you are aware of who you are and accept that, it will be difficult to live in truth, or be transparent with anyone. Truth and Transparency are integral parts of meaningful connections.

Self-esteem is impacted by so many different things but it is vitally important that we do not allow a flawed standard to be our guide as to how we feel about ourselves. Unfortunately, so many have already had this experience and it takes a lot of work to undo the damage that has been done by the negative effects of low self-esteem. The good news, however is that as long as you have life and a willingness to change all things are possible...

The Message Monday Moment: So many of us claim to love ourselves but we don’t walk it like we talk it. 2013 was the year that I came face-to-face with the fact that I did NOT love myself the way that I thought I did. It was then that I made a conscious decision to make effort to love myself. It has not been easy and the journey is not complete but I’m well on my way; so much further than where I’ve been with so much further to go still. However, the journey is a blessing and with each lesson obtained , more self love is gained!! Have your own story you’d like to share? Let’s talk about it!

Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties;toughness. It is further defined as the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity. In the simplest sense, resilience me one’s ability to bounce back. To be resilient means to be able to withstand and adapt to hardships, including trauma, like this pandemic for instance. In many cases it can be finding a path that leads to a stronger position. This week our practical application of the building block of resilience reminds us that if we battle beyond the barriers of defeat, we can have victory!

This episode discusses the underestimated power of being quiet. So often the need to SAY something is generated from an emotional place. Is that a bad thing? Not always but emotions can take us places we don’t want to be and sadly can drag others right along with us! Silence is an invaluable tool that far too many use less frequently than they should!

The “K” I thought initially would be kindness until I was “divinely detoured” to explore a different concept. “Knowing” or being known is a distinctly honorable experience. However, sometimes we are not yet aware or we don’t know for ourselves and there are others placed on our path to ensure that we are enlightened to know and be known!

There’s a quote I penned years ago that says “What you do by choice is what matters most.” And what I meant by that is those things that you put thought into and make a decision intentionally to carry out are the things that will change your life. One of those areas in my life was low/no self-esteem and jealousy. So many traumatic experiences culminated in my youth with the intent to destroy me but God! I had already been molested/raped, impregnated and experienced abortion, attempted suicide, and so much in between. I had no idea who I was or who I was supposed to be. Expelled from the math science and apply technology program I had placed into from middle school, I entered a “new world” at a parochial school. Full of rage, anger, sadness, loneliness and a monsoon of other emotions, I put on my mask and tried to fit it. I wanted to BE normal but I wasn’t.
