Many listeners own a cat, like cats or just want to get into the current trend of being a cat lady. This episode is dedicated to USA  Republican Candidate for vice president  J.D. Vance and as well to Taylor Swift who endorsed Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris with a cat friendly special sign off. Romeo and Juliet captures all of the romance, passion, drama and conflict of deep and magical love and our classical composers have given us some gorgeous representations of this beautiful story.

In Season 1 we explored music that makes us want to dance.  The Risingholme Orchestra of Christchurch is playing three pieces that are about dance too but, are different, Instead of music we could almost dance TO it is music we can WATCH others dance.  In other words music from original ballets. When we listen to just the music from the ballet we might still be able to feel the joyful and graceful movement of the dancers and feel that motion in our selves as well.

A suite is a collection of smaller musical pieces. Just like a bowl of candy, wonderful to taste.

In previous "Listen to this!" episodes we highlighted the performance of the Nelson Symphony and their concert called "Travel Plans".  Even though its musical program is also about different places, the Christchurch Youth Orchestra’s concert is less about the cultural aspects of a different country and more about the visceral FEELING of the geography of a different land.

Ahhh love….We all want it… sometimes we find it sometimes we lose it. How does classical music bring us love and Romance through the story of the classic story of Romeo and Juliet.

Travelling is so great. Going somewhere different, even if it’s only a short distance away can take you out of your own problems, change your way of thinking and your heart to more joyful possibilities in life.  For a brief moment when visiting somewhere different, you can feel something special.
