Kanye West: June 8, 1977

Kanye West is a producer and rapper born in Atlanta, Georgia. He started studying at an art academy, but did not graduate because he wanted to be part of the music business. Initially, he produced songs for Mos Def, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Jay Z and others. But as Pharrell Williams, he wanted to perform himself.

And the incident that triggered West’s singer career was a car accident! West wanted to dedicate a song to this incident and that is how “Through the Wire” was created. He completed his debut album “The College Dropout” that contained this song when he still was not cured. And the album made West famous in 2004. In his first album, there is a second song that is worth mentioning: In “Jesus Walks”, West criticizes the fact that a rapper will rather write songs about specific subjects (like violence) than about subjects like religion. Like this, West won two Grammies: For the “Jesus Walks” single and the album.

The rapper was also awarded with three Grammies for his next album “Late Registration” from 2005. In the following years, West published further albums. His last one is “God is Real” (2019).

Nancy Sinatra, daughter of the singer Frank Sinatra, is a US-American actress and singer. Both her father and tutors gave her singing lessons, but she also took drama, piano and dancing lessons. She studied music at the University of California in Los Angeles. Like Kanye West, she did not graduate to dedicate her life to a music career.

Further well-known songs by her are: “How Does That Grab You, Darlin’?”, “Sugar Town”, “Love Eyes”, “Lightning’s Girl”, “Tony Rome” and “Somethin’ Stupid”. She recorded the latter with her father. Nancy Sinatra stopped performing for a while and returned in the 1990’s and the 2000’s with several albums.
