The British singer Shirley Bassey was born in Cardiff, Wales and has both British and Nigerian roots. She started her musical career by performing in pubs and was discovered by the agent Mike Sullivan. And like this, she released her first successful song in 1957 with the “Banana Boat Song”. 

However, she had her real breakthrough due to three James Bond movie songs: “Goldfinger”, “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Moonraker”.

Billy Ocean: January 21, 1950

Leslie Sebastian Charles, also known as Billy Ocean, was born in Trinidad and Tobago and his family moved to England when he was very young. After having published songs under the name Les Charles, he decided to change his artist name. And as Billy Ocean, he released the UK No. 2 hit “Love Really Hurts Without You” in the “Billy Ocean” album. He became internationally famous thanks to his song “Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)” from the “Suddenly” album. In 1981, again a Billy Ocean album, “Nights (Feel Like Getting Down)”, became a Billboard 200 hit.
