Pharrell Williams: April 05, 1973

You can be more successful when you produce songs for other musicians than when you do it for yourself. The US musician and songwriter Pharrell Williams is an appropriate example: He met Chad Hugo in the High Shool. In the 1990’s and the 2000’s, they called themselves “The Neptunes” and produced songs for Britney Spears (“I’m a Slave 4 U”), Jay Z (“I Just Wanna Love U (Give it to Me)” and others. Additionally, he wrote lyrics for Shakira, Jennifer Lopez and Usher among others.

At the beginning of the 2000’s, many songs featured in the British radio were by Pharrell Williams and that was rewarded with a Grammy Award for the producer of the year. Williams and Hugo performed as a band, but they did not have success. Furthermore, Williams became known for his song “Happy”, a soundtrack for the animated film ”Despicable Me 2”.
