Gwen Stefani took over the role of the frontwoman after the suicide of the band founder John Spence. Gwen, therefore, only stopped her studies at university during one semester to tour with the band. However, when the tour for the promotion of the success album ended only after two and a half years, Gwen did not return to the university. More than 16 million records of The Tragic Kingdom have been sold.

Solo Career

In 2004, Gwen Stefani started a solo career with the debut album "Love. Angel. Music. Baby". Songs like "What You Waiting For?", "Rich Girl" or "Hollaback Girl" were inspired by the pop music of the 1980s. In 2006, the second solo album featured tracks such as "The Sweet Escape" or "Wind It Up". The third album "This Is What the Truth Feels Like" was released in 2016. With the rapper Eve, she released "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" in 2001, which was very sucessful.

In 2004 Gwen Stefani began to audition for films such as Mr. & Mrs. Smith. In the film The Aviator by Martin Scorsese she starred as Jean Harlow alongside Leonardo Di Caprio. In the same year, Gwen Stefani lent her voice to the title heroin of the video game Malice. Before the publication, however, the responsible persons decided against the participation of the singer.

Collaborations

On the Maroon 5 song "My Heart is Open" Gwen Stefani sings together with Adam Levine and played this song for the first time at the Grammy Awards 2015. She co-operated with Calvin Harris for the track “Together”. In 2017 Gwen returned with new music in the form of the Christmas album "You Make It Feel Like Christmas", on which, among others, her boyfriend and country music star Blake Shelton wrote and sung songs.
