Many of the music stars described in the Informer knew since their childhood that they could not imagine their own life without music. Chris Martin, lead singer of the pop, rock and alternative band Coldplay, seems to be an exception: At the University College London, he studied Ancient World studies, Latin and Greek. There he met the other Coldplay members: Jon Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman and they founded a band.
In 2000, Coldplay released the debut album "Parachutes" and received a Grammy for the Best Alternative Music Album. Furthermore, the album went platinum in Great Britain, USA and Australia. Their second album "A Rush of Blood to the Head" made them internationally known.
In 2005, the successful album "X&Y" followed and in 2008, the band released "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends". In the penultimate year, the band recorded the single "Something Just Like This" with The Chainsmokers.
By the way, Chris Martin started a solo career in 2002 and he cooperated with Rihanna and other artists. But that does not mean that he left his band: He was a band member and a solo artist simultaneously. Martin is a multifaceted musician: He not only plays the piano, the harmonica and other musical instruments, but he is also open to diverse music styles and he writes lyrics on his own.

Our next artist that was born in March also differs from other music stars: Liza Minnelli, daughter of the actress Judy Garland, is not only a singer but also a musical actress.
Minnelli was born in Los Angeles, California in 1946. When she was five years old, her parents divorced and she lived alternately with her father, a Hollywood director, and her mother. Liza Minnelli stopped her schooling and went to New York to become an actress. For her role in the Broadway musical "Flora, the Red Menace" (1965), the 19-year old Liza received the Tony Award as the Best Actress in a Musical although the musical was performed only for a few weeks.
In the musical "Cabaret" (1972), Liza Minnelli demonstrated both her singing and acting talents. An album with soundtracks from this movie went gold. In 1973, she was rewarded with an Emmy Award for her performance in the television special "Liza with a Z".
She released some albums, for example the eletronic dance album "Results" (1989) that she recorded with the British electropop duo Pet Shop Boys.
As already mentioned, Liza Minnelli is an actress too, but she is a live performer mainly. She performed at the renowned Plaza Hotel in New York.

Reginald Kenneth Dwight, also known as Elton John, is a British singer and composer who loved music since he was a little child: He learned playing the piano when he was four years old. When he was a teenager, he performed as a piano player in a pub.
Later, he worked as a composer for DJM Records and met Bernie Taupin who became his songwriter for many years. As DJM expected them to publish their own songs, they started with a single in 1968. The album "Honkey Chateau" was their first success. In the 80's, Elton John led a wild life full of parties, so that he became less productive in terms of music. In the 90's, he returned and his single "Sacrifice" became a super hit in Great Britain.
After the fatal accident of Lady Diana in 1997, he modified his "Candle in the Wind" song from his 1973 album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". The new song with the title "Goodbye England's Rose" became the most sold single of all times.
John received numerous awards for his singles and albums, but he is also a renowned movie soundtrack composer: The soundtrack for the Disney movie "The Lion King" earned him an Oscar. In 2018, he announced that he would retire.

Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in New York. He parents were Italian immigrants. Like Elton John, she was filled with enthusiasm for music and learned playing the piano very early. Stefani was allowed to study music at the Tisch School of the Arts although she was too young (17 years old).
Initially, she wrote lyrics for other music stars. But as she wanted to become a singer for herself, she started performing in clubs and laboriously building a fan base. She gained success without participating in casting shows, i. e. she did not need any help.
Her first album "The Fame" (2008) made her famous overnight. With "Artpop" (2013), Lady Gaga intended to accentuate her artistic potential. However, the sales were not as high as the sales of the previous albums. In 2014, she released the Grammy Award-winning jazz album "Cheek To Cheek" she has recorded with Tony Bennett. In 2018, she had a film role in "A Star Is Born".
You cannot imagine the music world without Lady Gaga's chart hits "Poker Face", "Alejandro", "Bad Romance" and others.
