Adele: May 05, 1988

The British singer and songwriter Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, also known as Adele, loved music in her childhood as many famous musicians. She idolized Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Pink and the Spice Girls. At the age of 14, Adele listened to songs by the jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald and the blues singer Etta James for the first time. The teenager was impressed by them although that music became popular decades before Adele’s birth.

Adele attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon that Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis attended, too. At that time, she published her own songs on MySpace. Impressed by them, XL Recordings suggested to her a contract.

In contrast to some other artists, Adele was successful with her debut album “19” (2008) that she released at the age of 19. She also had success with the next two albums, “21” and “25”. In 2013, she received the Academy Award for “Skyfall”, a song from a James Bond film.

Christoph Schneider (Rammstein): May 11, 1966

Christoph Schneider, the drummer of the German band Rammstein, was born in Pankow in Eastern Berlin. His father, a university lecturer and opera director, wanted his son to have the same interests as himself and he made Christoph take piano and trumpet lessons. In opposition to his father however, Christoph did not like classical music. He built his own drum set.

After having done his military service, Schneider performed in various bands. Like this, he met Paul Landers and Flake, who would be members of the future Rammstein band. In 1994, Schneider founded the Tempelprayers band, that was later named Rammstein, with his housemates from his apartment share. Although the band did not arise a high interest during its first tour, it was taken under contract by Motor Music. Three years later, David Lynch used their songs “Heirate mich” and “Rammstein” in his movie “Lost Highway” and that was Rammstein’s breakthrough.

Rammstein often provokes with its songs, but everyone has to decide on his own what to think about them, because Rammstein does not comment on them.
