The dance-pop and soul artist was born Richard Paul Astley in England. Little attention was payed to Rick Astley's debut single, however, the song "Never Gonna Give You Up" (1987) suddenly made him famous as it topped the charts in many countries. He has his producer to thank for that. In the same year Astley released the single "Whenever You Need Somebody" and the album of the same name. Both were also a great success for him. The singer released further hits and began touring in 1989.
At the beginning of the 90's, Astley chose a new music style and created soul and adult contemporary instead of dance-pop music and since then he did not top the chart as often as before. At that time he also decided to renounce of a further music career which he continues only in 2001. Since then he released new albums, for example "Keep It Turned On" and "The Greatest Hits".

Kelendria Trene Rowland, also known as Kelly Rowland, was born in Georgia, USA and grew up in Houston (Texas). There Rowland made friends with Beyoncé Knowles and they participated in the Star Search show as members of the band Girl's Tyme. They did not win, but that would not discourage them to continue performing if there was an opportunity to do so. Finally the band was put under contract and it was given the name Destiny's Child. After several successful years they disbanded. As Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland became a solo artist and released the chart hit "Dilemma" (recorded with the rap artist Nelly) from the album "Simply Deep" (2003). She worked on further albums, partly in collaboration with other artists, but not all of the albums gained huge recognition. Besides her artist career, Rowland participated as a judge in The X Factor and The Voice, too.

Brian Thomas Littrell was the last member who joined the US-American band Backstreet Boys because his cousin Kevin Richardson, also a band member, had suggested that to him. The Backstreet Boys' singles "We've Got It Goin' On" and "I'll Never Break Your Heart" as well as the album "Backstreet Boys" became hits only in Europe, but later the band created also chart hits for their homeland.
In 2006, Kevin Richardson left the Backstreet Boys and Brian Littrell released his album "Welcome Home" in the same year. Richardson joined them again six years later, but the popularity of the band gradually decreased. They planned a tour for 2019 nevertheless and created in cooperation with other artists the album "DNA".
