You can record many music and video portals with Audials and have them searched by Audials. It doesn't matter whether the music sources are software installed on the PC or a web player. Thanks to the fingerprint-based recognition of the music tracks, Audials can record almost any source and save the songs individually.

Spotify, Tidal, Apple and Deezer stream your own music at up to 320 kbit/s, and you can save it to your PC in MP3, AAC or WMA format.

Tidal also offers lossless encoding and streams in hi-fi quality at 44 kHz/16 bit or in master quality at 96 kHz/24 bit. Such music can be stored in FLAC format or (for HiFi) alternatively in WAV format. Master is the very highest quality that is technically possible and allows you to enjoy music in studio quality.

Playlist and enjoy

Save playlists in Audials

You do not need to enter playlists from Spotify manually in Audials. Simply copy the URL of the playlist into Audials. Listen to the individual songs in the list directly if you wish, rearrange them or remove songs that you don't like. Then save the songs either as links or as perfectly cut individual files on your PC.

Create your own playlists

You can see your playlists in the Playlists view. You can also create new playlists there by dragging songs from the player at the top right into the new playlist. Audials can also generate playlists from your music if you select a genre or an artist.

You define your own music style for Audials. It's easy. You tell Audials a few musicians, bands or an Internet radio station that plays your favorite music. Then you play with various sliders - for example, whether you want to have 1,000 music tracks with a balanced distribution of the music that best suits your style. Audials instantly shows you a detailed preview of what your new music collection could look like. Click Start and Audials will search through all streaming services, websites and radio stations. This will give you the right music collection in no time.

Audials One automatically completes music tracks with lyrics, album images and all ID3 tags such as year and genre. In addition, details can be changed manually or by drag and drop using a tag editor.

But you can also have Audials automatically tag music collections that do not originate from Audials and thus ensure a uniformly high standard in your music collection.

Powerful tag editor

Audials helps with mass processing, especially when editing large music collections. If, for example, a spelling mistake is found in the ID3 tag of the artist name, Audials One can quickly and easily clean up all affected music tracks. The powerful in-place editor makes it easy to add additional tags, even while recording is in progress.

Audials One contains an optimized audio editor for post-processing music tracks. It can be used to cut and normalize music tracks, add fade-ins and fade-outs or export parts of a song. Ringtones from music tracks can be created in Audials with the ringtone editor.

Perfect recordings

In most cases, post-processing is not necessary because Audials normalizes music to a uniform volume and cuts songs automatically. Fading can be preset for radio recordings. During recording, Audials provides support for an optimal recording level with the level meter, dialog hints and auto detection.

Practical music manager

Anyone who has recorded thousands of songs will certainly want to keep their music collection in order. The My Music tab is available in the Audials music view for this purpose. Here you can see how many songs you have from each artist. If there are not enough songs, you can add the artist to your wish list and find more songs and albums. You can manually define a genre for all the music by a particular musician. This allows you to see how strongly each genre is represented in your collection.

With the music manager, you can rename as many songs at once or assign them to another genre as you like. For example, have all alternative songs been saved as pop by mistake? Or do you want to assign an artist to a specific genre? This can be corrected with just a few clicks in the context menu of the respective genre or artist or in the item display at the bottom right of Audials.

For many video portals, you can simply copy the URL into the input line or drag and drop it in.

Top quality recordings

Direct recording graphics card

Most tools make a screen recording. However, the recording loses quality due to the rescaling of the video images.

Only direct recording from the PC's graphics card guarantees the very highest quality. This method is technically complex and requires a large number of adjustments to browsers and the operating system. Audials delivers recordings of the highest quality.

Adaptive streaming

To compensate for fluctuations in the recipient’s internet bandwidth, Amazon, Netflix and other services split the video streaming into sections, which can also be encoded differently. Many tools fail when recording this adaptive streaming.

However, Audials can reassemble the adaptive streaming into a complete movie after recording without disturbing artifacts or visible transitions and save it without any loss of quality.

EME DRM and HTML 5

Modern video streaming is based on the HTML5 standard. The movie is encrypted according to the EME standard (encrypted media extensions), decrypted in the browser by a CDM module supplied by the provider and forwarded to the graphics card. Audials is 100% compatible and records these video streams for you. Audials does not circumvent any copy protection, but creates a private copy for your own use.

Graphics card coding

Video recordings push PCs to their limits: High resolutions such as Full HD are particularly demanding in terms of performance, as every single frame of a movie has to be recorded. At 25 frames per second and a feature film length of 90 minutes, this adds up to 135,000 recordings. For this reason, Audials’ many years of development have focused on optimization in order to get the best possible performance out of your PC for the best possible recording quality.

Audials encodes in the graphics card so that the processor is less burdened and videos can be processed in even higher quality. Graphics card encoding is supported for the most common graphics cards (Nvidia, AMD, Intel).

Frame rate

Video streaming can be sent with different FPS frame rates (frames per second). The usual rates are 25 FPS or 29.97 FPS.

Audials recognizes the frame rate and saves the recording at exactly the right frame rate if desired. The playback of the recording then looks exactly like the original.

The format of video files is important because it determines the file size and whether they can be played on end devices.

Audials contains a powerful encoder engine and generates all common video file formats such as WMV, MP4, MPEG4, AVI, 3GP, 3G2, FLV, MKV, MOV, H.264 and H.265.

Many device profiles for PCs, games consoles, tablets and smartphones from various manufacturers are configured in Audials.

The default settings focus on the highest quality. Alternatively, a space-saving file size can also be selected.

Thanks to the Audials developers, it is now possible to watch and record Netflix in the Chrome and Firefox browsers or in the internal player in full HD (1080p) without any loss of quality. Click on the Netflix tile in the video streaming view in Audials and follow the instructions in the small window that will open. You can also choose whether you want to record in 1080p or need 5.1 surround sound.

Search engine for movie tags

Audials automatically adds the movie tags for Netflix and Amazon, so you don’t have to change anything!

Audials automatically saves recordings from other sources under the correct name. There is a movie tag search engine for these sources.

This allows you to enhance new recordings and existing movie files with movie tags. Once a recording is finished, it appears in the top right-hand corner of Audials. Then click on the pencil icon of the file to start the search.

Audials finds the appropriate short description, actors involved, the director, the genre and much more on the Internet and saves all this for you in the movie file with a click.

The batch recorder

Any video streams from the Internet can be recorded in the highest quality in Chrome and Firefox and saved as MP4, H.264 and other formats with movie tags.

Simply create a list of movies in the Audials rbatch recorder. To do this, briefly play each movie in the browser and Audials registers the movie for recording.

Audials then processes the list automatically and records all the movies for you. Audials automatically provides you with a movie collection. Ingenious, isn’t it?

A little tip: You don’t need a batch recorder for series. Activate the autoplay function in Netflix and click on the Netflix tile in Audials. And Audials will record the entire season!

In the search you will see the last podcast episode. Go to the podcast’s detail view to see the previous episodes as well.

These include CNN for the USA, numerous BBC streams for the UK, NHK World for Japan and France 2 - 5 for France. Italy is included with the RAI stations and Spain as well as other countries are also represented.

All your videos in one place

In Video you not only see content available online such as TV, streaming and video podcasts, but also all your own videos. Audials sorts films that you have recorded from Netflix or Amazon Prime Video by genre. All episodes of a series are grouped together so that you can find everything quickly.

Organize your own videos

If you don’t like the automatic tagging, you can rearrange videos using drag and drop. To edit all tags like title, director, genre, year etc., click the pencil icon of the video and select Tags. Don’t like the existing tags? Then use the movie tag search engine.

Optimize recordings

Cut Editor and Cropper

Some streaming providers show commercials, summaries or trailers at the beginning of a movie. Audials makes it very easy for you to cut out unwanted content from your recordings. The cut editor also allows you to manually cut frame by frame so that you end up with a perfect video file.

With the cropper, you can also easily remove annoying black bars from the video. Export your favorite movie scenes as new files while retaining the original video.

Subtitles in all languages

In Audials, there are several ways to insert subtitles during recording: Display them from the streaming source and render them directly into the video or save them as a subtitle layer. Alternatively, Audials can also search the web for subtitles in any language and save them as a separate subtitle layer.

Subtitle search engine

After recording, you can use the subtitle search to add subtitles as a layer in any language. Saving the subtitles as a separate layer allows you to see them when playing on other devices, e.g. on your TV. You can also remove them at any time.

Another way to get subtitles is to have them translated in Audials.

Remove advertising with one click

Audials can recognize and cut out annoying advertisements during the recording. Alternatively, you can also remove them afterwards, as Audials automatically marks them for you. So you can get rid of them with one click.

If your device does not appear in the list, you can quickly and easily select the appropriate format with predefined parameter sets. There are other options:

Create individual video profiles

In expert mode, you can create your own profiles that are optimized for the performance of your target device. Select the appropriate container and the codec that delivers the best results. Set the desired bit rate and, for videos, the frame rate and size.

Audials sets no limits to the optimization options for conversion. You can either copy and modify existing profiles as a basis for your profile or create your own profile from scratch.

The following parameters, among others, can be set individually:

  • The container indicates the output format and file extension of the converted audio or video file. You can choose between 3GP, 3G2, AVI, FLV, MKV, MOV, MP4, WMV for videos and FLAC, AAC, AIFF, AU, CAF, M4A, MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA, WMApro for audio files.
  • The codec determines how the content of the file is stored. A distinction is made between audio and video codecs, each of which must be specified. For example, an MPEG-4 codec can be used for the video channel and an AAC codec for the audio channel in an MP4 file. The output file can only be played on the playback devices with the correct codecs.
  • For both audio and video formats, the bit rate can be used to set the quality and size of the output files. Possible audio bit rates: 24-320 kbps. Possible video bit rate: 64-29,040 kbps. Alternatively, the original bit rate can be retained in both cases. Variable bit rates are of course also supported.
  • The frame size is used to set the resolution of the output file to suit the end device. The adjustable spectrum ranges from a pixel resolution of 128×96 through various gradations up to 4096×2160 (FullHD) pixels. Retaining the original size or individual sizes are also possible.
  • The frame rate stands for the number of frames per second. The default setting is 25 fps (frames per second). The frame rate can be set individually between 6 and 60 fps.

Audials automatically searches for the right tags for recordings from Amazon and Netflix. You can also have movies and series from other recording sources completed by using the tag search engine. Audials then searches the Internet and provides you with short descriptions, the list of actors, director, genre and much more information for saving.

Audials combines all versions of a video so that you can easily switch back and forth between them. Your collection remains well structured and organized.

What is artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI for short) is a branch of computer science that deals with the creation and application of machines and software that can perform tasks autonomously and learn. AI systems can solve complex tasks by recognizing patterns in data and reacting to them. They can understand language, interpret images, make decisions and adapt to new information. AI is used in many areas, including robotics, speech recognition, image processing and predictive analytics.

Why do I need AI?

For videos in poor quality, the resolution is too low, among other things. This means that the video is missing information, which cannot be easily restored. This is where existing video software does not help. Artificial intelligence can supplement this information because it has learned from countless video examples what good quality videos look like. So if you have a video in poor quality that is very important to you, you can only improve it significantly with AI.

What is HDR?

HDR (High Dynamic Range) means that a digital image is captured at least three times: At low, normal and high exposure. Special software combines these three images to create an HDR image. The background to HDR technology is that digital images cannot optimally reproduce differences in brightness in nature. This results in overexposed or underexposed images in which not all details are visible. Thanks to HDR, more details become visible, considerably more colors can be displayed and the contrast is stronger.

What is the advantage of HDR?

With HDR conversion, you will see 64 times as many colors in your video as in a conventional image. Why is that? Digital images have the three color channels red, green and blue and for each of these color channels 256 brightness gradations (2 to the power of 8), that’s 8 bits. In a digital non-HDR image, you see a total of 2 to the power of 8 to the power of 3 colors, which is 16.8 million. HDR offers a color depth of 10 bits or more, resulting in a total of over one billion colors. You will see this if your TV or monitor supports HDR.
